Description

A hardy classic with bold contrast! The Mexican Redrump (Tliltocatl vagans) is a popular New World terrestrial species from Mexico, Guatemala, and Belize, featuring a velvety black body accented by vibrant reddish-orange hairs on the abdomen and legs. Opportunistic burrowers, they are tough and adaptable, often out in the open as adults for great viewing. Generally docile with a calm adult temperament, they can be skittish or defensive (kicking urticating hairs) if provoked, but bites are rare and mild. An excellent beginner-friendly species that’s long-lived and reliable.
